Road Town, British Virgin Islands, August 23, 2023 - On August 16, 2023, Republic Bank (BVI) hosted a highly successful Small Business Workshop aimed at empowering local entrepreneurs and fostering economic growth for small businesses. The event, held at Treasure Isle, brought together a diverse group of small business and aspiring entrepreneurs eager to gain valuable insights and practical knowledge they can apply. Speakers shared their expertise and experiences in establishing and operating a successful small business. The event included a networking hour, which was critical for attendees to connect with and learn from each other.
During the delivery of the welcome remarks Managing Director of the bank’s operations in BVI, Marion Blyden said, “At Republic, we firmly believe that the small business sector plays a crucial role in our communities.” They are the backbone of the economy, contributing to job creation, innovation, and economic growth.” Retail Banking Manager of the bank, Marvin Scott also addressed the participants and highlighted that, “small businesses serve as the engine of global growth and act as a catalyst for economic activities and development in forward-thinking economies. Based on World Bank statistics, it can be deduced that small businesses play a crucial role in driving economic progress.”
