New Business Banking Experience

Dear Valued Customer,

We’re getting closer to bringing you a new Business banking experience with the upcoming conversion to Republic Group’s suite of technology platforms.

Here are some changes you can expect when the new system goes live on April 4, 2022:

  • New Business Account Number: You should have received your new 12-digit Business account number by now. If you have not yet received it, please contact your Relationship Manager or branch. It is important that you update your key stakeholders of your new account number and effective date beforehand to avoid delays or interruptions to deposit transactions, incoming wire transfers, standing orders, automated payments, or scheduled transactions.
  • Point of Sale Equipment: All point-of-sale machines will eventually be replaced, as we move further along in the conversion process. In the meantime, you can continue to use your existing machine.
  • Confirmation of Account Type for Point-of-Sale Transactions: If you receive payments from customers via a point-of-sale terminal, kindly note that customers will now be prompted to select their Account Type (Chequing or Savings) before completing their transaction.
  • Discover Card Acceptance: If you previously accepted Discover Cards at your Republic Bank (former Scotiabank) point of sale terminal, you will be temporarily unable to continue doing so from April 4, 2022. We will make every effort to shorten the timeframe during which it will be unavailable and encourage you to update your customers accordingly to help them prepare for this change. Note however that Discover Credit Cards will continue to be available for online purchases.
  • Processing and Layout of Cheques: If you usually order cheque books from your branch, you will receive one free cheque book with 100 leaves, at no cost to you. If you print externally, please advise your Relationship Manager as soon as possible, so we can provide the new layout and specifications for your printers.
